Born and raised in San Jose, CA John grew up playing sports all the way through high school but was always a little bit on the “heavy” side through his childhood. His weight was always a problem that affected his self-esteem and confidence. It wasn’t until the summer between his Freshman and Sophomore year that he decided to make the change. Over that summer he changed his diet, started running distance, and was an early adopter of quick, high intensity circuit/interval training. He found his focus with his health and hasn’t looked back since. His main athletic focus in high school was playing baseball and he noticed that the harder he worked on his own fitness and nutrition outside of school sports, the better his performance actually was when he got back onto the field.
He finished his run with baseball once he graduated high school, but his love for fitness continued to grow through his college years and would eventually lead his interest into new areas of fitness such as weight lifting and general exercise science. With a new found understanding of exercise science and a strong desire to help and work with people, he decided to become a personal trainer.
Shortly after moving to San Francisco and getting married John started his personal training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine(NASM). While he was in the midst of his certification he was brought onto the I Luv My Body Fitness team to pursue his career as a personal trainer/group fitness instructor. He started out as an intern with the company to get some hands on experience as he finished his certification to become a trainer. He is now a regular trainer at the company leading boot camp and personal training sessions weekly. He continues to grow with I Luv My Body Fitness and further his education with the ultimate goal of becoming a fitness expert.
