Hello! My name is Missy Bunch and I currently live in San Francisco. I have been dancing since I was 5 years old and remember the moment I was put on a stage. Ever since that moment I have been fascinated with body movement, the miracles that can happen and what we are all capable of.
Raised as a dancer, I have been performing on stage for as long as I can remember and this love of dance became a profession in 2009 when I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance with an emphasis in performance choreography. (I was also Studying Psychology and Kinesiology on the side.) Since then, I was able to continue my dancing career with the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 2 seasons. After years of dance teams, dance competitions and teaching dance classes, I was hungry for something more.
I have always loved everything about fitness: the lifestyle, the nutrition, the sweating, and the complex movement mechanics of the human body. Turning this love of fitness into a reality, I became a NASM certified personal trainer in San Francisco. Now, I currently instruct countless of boot camp classes and teach semi-private group classes and private personal training clients for I Luv My Body Fitness.
In order to expand my leadership skills and produce effective coaching for my clients, I am also an Introduction Leader for Landmark Education. After successfully completing a seven month leadership and development program to powerfully and effectively make a difference for people, I was then requested to coach and manage a team of people for the next seven months immediately after. That experience changed my life.
Why my passion for overall health is so authentic and strong is because fitness was not always at the forefront of my mind. I bounced around from job to job for years trying to find the “right” thing to do to be happy. I ended up being the heaviest I had ever been, miserable and depressed. My clothes no longer fit and the free mountains of corporate food that were brought in daily were the highlight of my day. Eating because I was bored and lonely had me gain weight faster than I knew possible.
Finally one day my boyfriend at the time said to me, “Missy I am watching you die. The ‘Missy’ sparkle you’ve always had isn’t there anymore and I can’t let this happen because I love you.” WHOA! So… I decided to follow my heart. I asked myself, “What is the one thing you’ve always wanted to do and haven’t done?” Being a certified personal trainer had always been a secret goal of mine and I was so scared to go for it! So I decided to do it no matter how scared I was and I flooded my brain and heart with everything and anything I could get my hands on to make my fitness knowledge reliable, effective and FUN. It was the BEST decision I have ever made.
Being partnered with someone to achieve his or her mental and physical goals is an extreme passion of mine. I love standing side-by-side with someone as they go through this journey of being optimally healthy and happy. I have never been more driven and passionate about anything in my life. THIS is what I am meant to be doing. My main goal is to prove how being healthy and strong can be easy, convenient and most importantly FUN!! I look forward to the opportunity of meeting you and always remember you DESERVE the body of your dreams and there is no “right time” to do it. You just have to do it!
When I am not training clients or teaching classes, I love to cook. I love finding the healthiest, yummiest versions of a famous recipe! Then I can’t wait to hear how it tastes from my friends and family — most of them never know I switch it up! It’s great haha. I also love “DIY” (Do It Yourself) arts and crafts/gifts/home decorations etc. I love the inspiration I get from an object or photo and turn it into something someone can enjoy for a long time. I get so excited giving gifts to people that I make with my own two hands. It’s really cool. Another secret hobby of mine (not-so-secret as of right now) is to write. I love writing poems. Sometimes dancing, cooking and sweating might not fully express what I feel/think/create and the pen starts flowing. I have so many journals full of poems; it’s a riot looking back over those.
Oh and I can’t forget to tell you how much I love corny jokes! They are my weakness so bring em’ on! ;)
